Who I Am

My Story

My name is Tarissa Meyer,

I am a mother of 3 wonderful children, the first being a set of twins who I  planed to give birth to at home with a midwife but because of compilations I ended up having a scheduled cesarean section After my girls were born I began to do research into VBACs  and, as a result, decided to have my next baby at our home with a midwife and wonderful Doula who truly inspired me to start my own journey with birth work. Because of my first hand experiences I provide a more in touch method of care for my clients.I am passionate about birth and assisting women to feel heard during such a life changing event. I know what a huge difference a doula made in my birth and hope to be that difference in my client's birth. Whether that be someone to apply counter pressure at every contraction, someone to make you a snack, someone to talk to, someone to stand in while your partner  takes a nap so they can be there during the big moment and give you all the support you need during that time, or all of the above. If you are not sure you want a doula yet but would like to chat, feel free to message me and I will answer all questions as best I can.

Our Clients Say

Angeliese.

Tarissa was one of the best parts about my birth. Because of her help, I was able to labor to 10 cm at home. She was so supportive of my husbands coaching and help both of us feel more confident and safe. The whole time I felt her gentle touch on my back and her timely words of encouragement. She was there to lean onto on the way to the car and she picked us up when we went to the wrong entrance at the hospital. She knew my birth plan and was unwavering in bringing it to fruition. When things needed to change, she was there, assuring me that I was being well taken care of. She was by my side when I threw up during transition, she spooned me peanut butter before I pushed, and she had water & snacks ready for me afterwards. She was the one who noticed my baby was rooting to nurse and got a support pillow for my arm. She held my baby while my husband prepared for skin to skin when I

couldn't. Afterwards, she checked in with me consistently and a few days later sat at the edge of my bed debriefing and advising. Basically, she went above and beyond to be the support I needed in a new and scary time. Everyone needs a Tarissa at their birth!

Spokane Doula

Mission

I want mothers to feel like they have a voice in their birth and that they have someone who is listening to them and cares about what they want whatever that may be. I am a strong believer that women can feel joy after any type of birth if they feel like they were heard and respected and that is what I advocate for when you hire me to be your Doula.
